China urges Volkswagen India to help improve its sales record
In China, Volkswagen sold 578,200 vehicles during the first four months of the 2011 reflecting a decent growth of 17%. While in India, its sales increased nine-fold and reached in the first quarter of 24,800 units. The European market, meanwhile, saw how the records of the firm grew by 3.7% thanks to the 567,100 vehicles registered. In this regard it should be stressed that Russia doubled its sales to reach 24,900 registrations. Finally, the firm sold 149,400 cars in the U.S., indicating a rise of 17.1%.
Upbeat Auto Market
China produced 6.43 million automobiles in the first four months of the year, 5.09% more than the same period last year. According to data from the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in China, sales of locally made cars rose by 5.95% to 6.53 million units between January and April this year. Last month, manufactured 1.53 million vehicles and sold 1.55 million units. Car sales in China rose 8.08% in the first quarter, to 4.98 million units, while in the first three months of 2010 growth was 71.8%.
